3 Unique and Simple Ways to Keep Your Minimalist Kitchen

Minimalist design of kitchens has been getting its due share of popularity these few recent years. It’s amazing how quickly, especially in the couple of years that have gone by, modular kitchens in Trivandrum and other tier-1 as well as 2 cities in the country have been adopting this design model. Sure, on of the reasons for such growing fame is that people generally prefer spaces to be as less chaotic as possible. While going for minimalist kitchen is a great way of doing just that, the decision should still not stem from the misconception that it’s easier to keep a minimalist kitchen spic and span.

On the contrary, you have to be careful, for even a few unnecessary items in your minimalist compact kitchen can make it look messy in no time.

So, here we have quite a few easy-to-follow tips that you can make use of, if yours is a minimalistically designed modular kitchen…

Add storage everywhere

Not just the higher uppers, but you can also consider adding some storage value to the side walls present right above the countertops - especially, if you have an island or a peninsular counter space available in the kitchen. You can make this space into an excellent appliance garage, which can easily house toasters, mixers, and what not. This way, you will have a lot of counter space freed up, and you also wouldn’t have to lift these items down from a cabinet too high up.

Mix deep and standard upper cabinets

If your kitchen has some vertical space that you can work with, then you can go for cabinets built all the way to the ceiling. Mix these with 12- to 16-inch standard uppers just above the counter, and in addition, have counter-depth uppers right above those. This will provide you with an ample breathing room just around eye as well as elbow height. You will even end up with having some extra space if you want to stash in larger items or maybe seasonal pieces. The only other thing you have to make sure is, keep a step ladder nearby, so that you can safely get any item from the highest of cabinets down, in a safe manner. This feature has been finding a lot of takers amongst the modular kitchens in Thiruvananthapuram, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and many other cities!

Use a panelled fridge

A dishwasher or a beautiful refrigerator could be one of the attractive features of your kitchen; but, if yours has a more minimalistic disposition, you could choose appliances that are panel-ready, which have a false cabinet door covering them. This would help you avoid breaking up the cabinets, any more than it is necessary. This in turn will make your kitchen look much bigger than it is. Say, you have a refrigerator visibly set against the back wall of the kitchen - then that wouldn’t be considered bad per se; only that it wouldn’t then look as crisp as you’d expect a minimalist kitchen to look.
